Finding Your Tyre Size

tyresize.jpg

To hire or buy a set of chains you must know what tyre size is on the driving wheels of your vehicle. The number is printed on the wall of the tyre and is a series of numbers e.g. 205/65 R 15.

205 indicates the width of the tyre, the 65 means the profile/ height of the tyre and the 15 stands for the rim diameter in inches. The letters in the tyre size are not required for ascertaining the appropriate chain size.

WARNING: even though a particular chain size is recommended for a particular tyre size, manually fitting the chain is important as different tyre manufacturers vary the size of their tyres.

Check out the size chart to work out the size required for your vehicle. The only guarantee that your chains will fit is to check them at the time of purchase or hire.
